Luigi Sala story

In March 2013, while he trained to take part in the Milan marathon, Luigi Sala got 46 years old, felt sick, and unexpectedly he was discovered to have a pancreas tumor. So he decided to rely on the care of San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, and after having embarked on an experimental path with cycles of chemotherapy and surgery, Luigi understood that too little is known about this disease.
For this reason, he decided to start a fundraising campaign to support the scientific research that he named My Everest intending to raise 8.848 €, a 1€ for each high meter of the highest mountain of the world, the Everest mountain.

Then Luigi died, in October 2015 his wife and his two soon transformed the project into an association that represents a point of reference for pancreatic cancer patients, providing information on the disease with particular attention to clinical trials, new therapies, prevention, and supporting scientific research projects through fundraising.

Thanks to the contributions collected in the first two years of activity, it was possible to support several clinical studies and the presence of a clinical data manager exclusively involved in clinical studies of pancreatic cancer at the medical oncology service of the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan.
