Which projects did we manage during this trip? Which are the customer’s needs? And which are the principal requirements?

T: “In Turkey, we manage two professional lines of clothing, one dedicated to the tire service center and the other dedicated to the operator to one of the most popular corporates that produce boilers and air conditioners. The customers’ need was to have a line of clothing that reflected the brand image, and it was coherent with the brand guidelines, so the people could identify the collaborators of the corporate. The clothing items had to be resistant and functional, to be comfortable and suitable for the use that the technicians would have done: for this reason, for example, to avoid the clothing items becoming dirty when getting in contact with the tire, we proposed to the customer black fabric which was very strong.”

How ColumbusPromo took on these requests? Which were the necessary steps?

T: “The conversation with the customer allowed us to find immediately the guidelines for the graphic design of the clothing items, keep in mind also the limits of the fabric process. The selection of the best production partners and the definition of the prices are the steps necessary before the order confirmation and the following sampling steps which are very important. Once the pre-production samples were approved, it was possible to proceed with the purchase and dyeing of the different types of fabric necessary for the creation of the garment.”

Which are the qualities and the difficulties to collaborate with a foreign partner?

T: “The distance is the principle difficult to pass: despite the countless technological tools we have today, seeing each other, being able to discuss with the products in the hands and under the eyes of everyone is still very useful. For this reason, we don’t hesitate to meet in person with our product partner in their factories or invite them into our Italian headquarters when necessary.”

How ColumbusPromo monitors the productions that are in progress?

T: “The QC activity is necessary to obtain the products that satisfy the expectations. The reason is not the lack of awareness in the production partner, but the diversity and the cultural and language distance. So it is very important to define the specific technical forms and the checkpoints that are controlled with their tolerability guidelines. The conversation and the frequent update with the customer with the use of production progress state images are the next steps before the real on-site QC. So, it’s very important to identify the eventual mistakes on the production line, because you can make changes with a small amount of money and make a sacrifice on the production times.”

Which are the advantages of continuous monitoring?
T: “Monitoring for enhancing: if you have control of the product line you can promptly intervene when there is a problem and so you can improve internal mechanisms and you can make products in line with what was requested.
The continuous monitoring allows you, also, to strengthen the partnership with the maker and his internal employees that, during the time, get used to your presence.”

To do the continuous improvement, which are the next steps that ColumbusPromo will do?

T: “Many things have already been done, but this is a continuous improvement process. Although we have a consolidated network of productive partners, we are always active in the selection of these. At the start of the projects, we select the best partner that is in line with the different characteristics and we create a relationship with the customers’ requirements and the corporate level.”
